Appreciate Him

…"Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." (Quran 3:173)

The roughest point of our struggles, the time we critically need someone to run to, someone to lean on, someone to help us. Usually we are blessed with a loved one that is there for us, but what about when no one understands us? No one believes that we can accomplish our dreams? No one recognizes that our walk on the straight path is acceptable? No one wants to offer help? No one can provide us with a solution? When things are out of control? When life is just too much to handle?

Consider the noble Prophets, those who endured much tougher challenges to convey the message of Allah. While being thrown into the depths of a raging fire, uttering the words, 'Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of  affairs' saved Prophet Ibrahim from being harmed by flames that instantly cooled down. Likewise, courage and confidence that Allah was enough for him and his army  grant Prophet Mohamed ()  victory in the battle of Uhud [1]. Thus, we should follow the lead of our Prophets and appreciate the presence of Allah in our lives. Plausibly, trusting Allah as the best Disposer of our affairs will enable us to rest assured that we are in the safest position possible and everything will workout perfectly in the end, only because  we are under His protection. Appreciate His presence, embrace His protection, seek His help, follow His guidance, and simply trust Him.

Attest to your faith, recognize Him as your Lord, and speak the words of a believer [2]; that He is enough for you.  You are nothing without Him, regardless of the world around you and what it beholds; He is more than enough for you. Succinctly, He has written every detail of your life, and planned your life according to certain factors. Allah is well aware of what is best for you, thus He will take control of your affairs in the perfect manner.  He is your confidant who will understand your secrets, He is your counselor who will listen to your complaints, He is your advisor who will provide you with guidance, and He is your only companion that will remain with you throughout it all.

[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.' “ (Quran 19:9)

Lean on His support and face the world knowing that He is watching over you and He will lift you up when you fall. From dust, He created the most complex of life forms, the most elaborate puzzle, in perfection; He created you from nothing, simply and easily. Nothing is impossible for Allah, to Him your troubles are uncomplicated and when the time is right, He will provide you with the solution that will end your struggles. He will ease your struggles, heal your pains, and lessen your worries; because He has no limit. With absolutely no trouble, He can straightforwardly resolve your issues; therefore have faith in Allah and trust Him and one day He will grant you victory against your challenges.

Remember Him

So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. (Quran 2:152)

Allah created you. He brought you into this world and provided you with endless bounties. He gave you a life that at times you may take for granted. Allah gave you health, family, friends, shelter, food, wealth, education; all of which you cannot deny. Yet in return, what have we offered Him, or perhaps what have we done for Him? Have we recognized His presence in life? In the midst of a busy day full of work, errands, taking care of family, preoccupied with ourselves, have we acknowledged that He is with us at all times? Other than our prayer 5 times a day that demonstrates our obedience and acceptance for Him, do we constantly remind ourselves of Him at all times?

Remembering Allah at all times is essential. It is essential to allow our faith for Him to prosper. It is essential to establish our relationship with Him, our Lord, our Creator. Remembering Allah is not merely a means of gaining more reward, but it is a way of improving our relationship with Him and recognizing His presence in our life at all times. To remember Allah is to constantly remind yourself that you belong to Him, you worship Him, your faith is for Him, He provides you with all that you need, and He is your ultimate source of Hope. Remembering Allah enables you to be at peace with yourself that you are not alone and He is with you at all times, hence you establish a profound relationship with Him and trust Him in all matters of your life.  Remembering Allah allows you to find yourself and realize who you are, who do you belong to, and what is your ultimate purpose in this world, which is to remain with Him. Remember Allah by praising Him for His greatness, asking Him for forgiveness for His satisfaction, and by repeating all forms of zhikr throughout your day. The repetition of remembrance on your tongue will constantly remind you of Allah’s presence in your life continuously and subconsciously will furnish your heart with the comfort that you are not alone. Remembering Allah is a marvelous form of worship as it demonstrates your obedience, faith, and trust in Him, and enhances your relationship with your creator.

In return, Allah will remember you. Allah the Almighty does not need anything from you, but by attaching yourself to Him day and night and embracing His presence in your life, He will reward you for your obedience to Him. First and foremost, He will provide you with His limitless mercy, and you will observe signs of His mercy in the world around you. By increasing your remembrance in Him you will realize that the world around you is changing, perhaps for the better, but most importantly, in a way that displays that He is with you at all times. By strengthening your relationship with Allah, He will reward you by supplying you with endless blessings in this world and in the next. By remembering Him always, He will immediately provide you with the help you are maintained by, and give you the strength you need to face this world. Above all, by displaying your obedience towards Him and recognizing that your relationship with Him is your top priority; He will furnish your heart with love, comfort, and relief that will bring peace to your soul.

Embracing Allah’s presence in your life firmly depends on recognizing the blessings He has bestowed upon you. Allah has provided you with it all. A healthy life, with family and friends around you, education and wealth, shelter and food, and a life free from poverty, war, hunger, and illness. It is practically impossible to thank Allah enough for his endless bounties, and one can never worship Him enough to payback His favors on you. Therefore, it is essential that we thank Him always, at all times, for everything; for everything that comes to mind and all the blessings we take for granted. It is essential to be humble and thankful for what He has given you, to recognize the true value of the life you are living, and to recognize how merciful He is on you.

You cannot escape from Allah. You cannot deny the fact that He created you. You cannot avoid the world around you that He has supplied you with. You cannot deny His presence in your life. He is your creator that has blessed you and provided you with a world full of bounties. Therefore, obey Him, worship Him, and remember Him at all times. For if you forget Him and become delinquent of your worship for Him, you will hurt yourself more than anything. You will harm your relationship with Him and the life He has provided you with will become a life full of despair. If you forget Allah, you will lose yourself, and if you lose yourself you are bound to fall down. After all ...

And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient. (Quran 59:19)

Free Yourself

So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner. (Quran 51:50)

Our lives are so eventful; periods of joy and excitement, and moments of anxiety and distress. This world beholds so much for us, and as much as we are blessed with family, health, shelter, wealth, and even more, there are times we still feel like we are missing something. Our heart is in need of peace or a constant feeling of comfort to provide us with inner stability day after day. Many of us tend to believe that the harmony of our hearts depends on the world around us. Consequently we trap ourselves inside a cage that only unlocks when the world chooses to open it. However, if we come to realize that the key to unlock the cage is in our hands we can free ourselves easily. The key is seeking Him, rather fleeing to your Lord. Acknowledging that all of your matters are in His hands, realizing that regardless of the world around you, you are under His protection at all times. Knowing that you are never alone, and wherever you are, He is with you. Accepting that the support you require is from Him and He will continue to tranquil your soul as long as you submit to Him.

Like a frightened, hurt child running to their mothers for protection and safety,  we have the most Merciful Lord that cares for us. When the world shuts its doors in our face, when it seems like the sun refuses to shine through the dark, looming clouds, when  our face is set into a perpetual grimace, when our challenges only become more difficult, when there is no one by our side, and nowhere to hide? Think again. There is only one way out, or rather, one place to seek solace. It is with Him, the One Who created you, the One Who you should put all of your trust in and be satisfied that all of your affairs are safe with Him. Free yourself from the cage you are trapped in and flee to Allah, for no one will provide you with the warmth your heart is calling for except for Him, no one will care for you as He will care for His own creation. With Allah, you will find the security you crave, the comfort you desire, and the love that will enlighten your heart will only be found with Him.

“There is no fleeing from You, and there is no place of protection and safety except with You”
